The Constitutional Region 2 Canada (GC2) Global Action Team (GAS), with the assistance of the Multiple District and District AMS Teams, supports all AC2 Lions Clubs. Our priorities are membership growth, expansion, service and training.

Lions Clubs International has set an ambitious goal of 1.5 million members by July 2027. To contribute to this global goal, CA2 Canada has set a target of 587 new members. The ADM team at GF2 recommends that each Canadian Lions Club aim for a net increase of two members per year by the end of June. With a current total of 1,422 clubs in Canada, a net growth of two per club would exceed the target of 587 net new members.

Achieving this goal requires careful planning. Lions clubs in Canada and around the world differ significantly in their structure and community involvement.

The association's guiding principle, "We Serve," emphasizes the importance of active membership in the fulfillment of our mission. The number of members within each club should reflect the specific needs of their respective communities, which can vary greatly. Larger clubs are better placed to carry out large-scale service actions. In addition, there are opportunities to restore clubs lost during the Covid-19 pandemic, as many communities retain a high recruitment potential. The creation of Leo Clubs can further increase service capacity.

Currently, seven separate grants are available to support club growth, covering areas such as membership, leadership, and marketing, among others. For any questions or previous experience with applying for grants, assistance is available.

As of August 31, membership is much higher than last year, action reports have increased by 10%, and several new clubs are being established. We are doing very well, but let us not let ourselves be defeated.
